I am currently working for North Lindsey College. During my time at the college I have gained my 7303 Teaching Qualification Certificate in Education, Hull University. I have also completed my TAQA (Training, Assessment, Quality & Assurance Awards) his year.

I have been working at North Lindsey College for 6 years as a Lecturer in Construction. I work with teenagers aged from 14-18 each day. We are the largest provider of post-16 education and training in North Lincolnshire, offering a huge range of full-time, part-time and apprenticeship courses at a range of levels. I liaise with local business to arrange placements and training for NVQ. In general, Apprentices spend 4 days per week at work and attend college usually for 1 day per week to learn new skills and gain underpinning knowledge. Apprenticeship/Advanced Apprenticeships take anything from 1 year and 4 years depending on the industry. Learners follow an Apprenticeship framework that has been developed nationally in consultation with employers and reflect the appropriate skills and learning for industry. The framework includes:

  • Significant practical work experience, skills and knowledge gained from the workplace
  • A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at Level 2 (Apprenticeship) or Level 3 (Advanced Apprenticeship)
  • Key Skills Qualifications eg Communication, Application of Number, IT
  • A Technical Certificate such as a BTEC National Certificate or similar (in most frameworks)

I teach a class of students the skills needed to gain a qualification and educate on skills and knowledge to learn a trade in construction. I undertake professional development activities to enhance personal development and job performance, through provision of training or mentoring.I liaise/participate in appropriate meetings with staff and senior management.I adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.

I have:

  • Flexible Working Practices
  • Excellent Working Relationships With Employers /businesses
  • Suitability To Work With Children
